Some brand new moves are coming to town.
The Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Parkland is hosting a grand opening celebration on Friday, Oct. 1, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. at 7631 N. State Rd. 7, in the Waterways Shoppes at Parkland.
Participants will be treated to an evening of dancing, professional show dances, champagne and hors d’oeuvres, and other events. The dress code is cocktail attire with a color code of royal blue, soft blue, or white, organizers said.
“We’re excited to introduce our studio to the world,” said Jailene Gaviria, dance instructor and event coordinator for the studio.
For locals weighing whether to inquire about dance lessons, Gaviria said the studio has options that meet every need, age, interest, and skill level, including beginners with no experience.
The studio teaches foxtrot, waltz, rumba, salsa, merengue, bachata, swing, and wedding dances. Arthur Murray students are often those preparing for an event like a cruise or vacation; others might be looking to learn new skills or just socialize.
Both singles and couples are welcome, studio staffers said, with private lessons and gift certificates available.
Gaviria said the studio’s professional instructors have been dancing for 10 years or more; some have performed on television and even boast competition experience.
“We’re totally welcoming and cater to all,” said Gaviria.
Arthur Murray Dance Studios, which began in 1912, currently has more than 260 locations in 21 countries across the world, according to the studio. Its staffers like to say people can “call now, dance tonight” since same-day sample lessons are available to the public.
