June brings us to the end of the school year and the beginning of summer. I would like to wish all graduating students a sincere congratulations! Whether you are continuing your educational journey, beginning a career, joining the military, or starting an adventure, we are proud of you for reaching this milestone. The world is full of opportunity, in Broward County, and beyond. Remember to work hard and aim high.
Keeping our graduates in mind, Broward County has lots of great opportunities and resources for those entering the workforce. CareerSource Broward provides a road map for those searching for the perfect career fit in Broward County. In addition, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and other organizations like Tech Lauderdale and various alumni groups provide a great networking resource to find jobs in different fields that may be hiring. Check them out!
Speaking of local business and opportunities, I look forward to highlighting the industries that call District 3 home. As a part of this initiative, we will be holding interviews with different entrepreneurs and CEOs of businesses headquartered in Northwest Broward. We’ll be discovering how these industries affect daily life in our community and how they got their start. I hope you participate and check out the videos that will be posted on my website and social media. If you would like to participate please contact my office, and we may interview you!
As summer rolls around, children will be spending more time out by the pool or the beach. Water safety is of the utmost importance. For those in your family that need to learn pool safety and swimming, please check out Broward.org for SWIM Central. These annual classes are meant to show all ages how to be safe and smart near the water. Please remember that it only takes a moment for a tragedy to happen, and the best safety measure is staying alert and learning how to swim.
Broward County’s Port Everglades hosted its annual Fleet Week and the Fort Lauderdale Air and Sea Show. Crews from our United States Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force participated and had shore leave in Broward County. It was great to meet several of these service members who are working hard to protect our nation. Service members participated in community service events, meet and greets, ship tours, and school visits. Thank you for visiting our community, and we wish you fair winds and following seas!
Finally, from my family to yours, I wish you a very Happy Father’s Day. Show Dad your appreciation by making his day special. Being a father is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I am thankful for my own father who has always been there to support me.
