Coral Springs City Commissioner Nancy Metayer Bowen.
The family of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer will host a celebration of life on Friday, April 17, at 12:30 p.m. at Church by the Glades, 400 Lakeview Drive.
Metayer, who served Coral Springs with what city officials described as heart, vision and purpose, was known as a passionate advocate for residents, a champion for inclusion and a leader committed to ensuring others felt seen, heard and represented. Her legacy, officials said, is defined by service, compassion and a deep love for the community.
“We are heartbroken and devastated by the loss of Vice Mayor Metayer,” Mayor Scott Brook said. “Nancy led with grace, conviction, and an unwavering belief in the power of community. She was a bright light in Coral Springs and a true champion for others. Her impact on our city will be felt for generations, and her legacy of service and love for this community will never be forgotten.”
Guests are asked to arrive by noon. Following the service, a public viewing will be held as attendees exit, allowing them to pay their final respects.
City officials encouraged those wishing to honor Metayer to do so not only in remembrance but by continuing the values she embodied, uplifting others, creating space at the table, serving with compassion, and working toward a more sustainable future.
