A Chabad memorial ceremony honoring some 1,200 victims murdered in the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks on Israel will be held in Coral Springs, with an IDF member serving as featured speaker.
The Monday, Oct. 7 event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Chabad Jewish Center of Coral Springs, 11325 W. Atlantic Blvd.
Sgt. Maj. Asaf Salomon, a member of the IDF Search and Rescue Brigade, will share a first-hand account of the destruction caused by Hamas-led terrorists along Israel’s southern border on Oct. 7 and the painful aftermath of the attacks, organizers said.
According to a written announcement from Chabad Jewish Center, Asaf spent months after Oct. 7 recovering the remains of victims from southern Kibbutzim, documenting destruction in those communities, and preserving memories and personal belongings for families of the slain.
“His personal experiences, accompanied by powerful images and stories, will shed light on the human impact of this tragedy,” the Chabad announcement states. “Through his words, we will preserve the memories of those who perished and pay tribute to their lives.
“This memorial is more than just a time to remember – it is a chance to connect, to heal, and to honor the resilience of those who suffered.”
The Oct. 7 terrorist assault on Israel, conducted during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, involved the killing of some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and the abduction of more than 250 hostages into Gaza, where dozens remain alive in captivity.
The Oct. 7 memorial event in Coral Springs is free of charge, but organizers say sponsors are needed.
All event sponsors donating over $180 will be invited to an exclusive VIP dinner with Salomon at 6:30 p.m. the night of the memorial.
