Coral Springs Charter cheerleading has been terrific this season under the leadership of first-year Head Coach McKenzie Palumbo.
Palumbo, who worked as an assistant under former coach Rachal Garris, was promoted to head coach after Garris moved to Georgia.
“I knew it was going to be in my best interest to learn everything I could from her so I would be able to continue to carry this program with the same standard she worked so hard to establish,” Palumbo said.
When she was five, Palumbo started cheerleading and competed in high school at Marjory Stoneman Douglas. This is her second year coaching and third year teaching English at CSC.
Throughout football season, Palumbo began coaching the cheerleaders with assistant coaches Ashley Speerin and Jaqueline Tsitkin and said the ladies on this team are some of the most dedicated, hard-working, and talented groups she has ever met.
The team consists of Cameron Broeckelmann, Alana Browne, Juliana Browne, Erika Burst, Jessica Camacho, Lili Conticello, Sydney Manning, Kyeran McKenzie, Peyton Moser, Alexis Newland, Kaitlyn O’Neil, Grace Powell, Jordin Sawyer, Riley Spran, Kaitlyn Stewart, Izzy Trejo, Riley Whitman, Lindsay Whitman, Addison Whittney and Mikayla Whitney.
The Panthers started the season with a successful UCA Camp, competing in the small co-ed division, and have competed in two head-to-hed competitions at Coral Glades and MSD, recently placing third in Bartow’s Chase the State Competition on Dec. 17.
The Panthers continue their season after the Christmas holiday with the District Tournament on Jan. 14 at Dillard High School and the Regionals on Jan. 21 at Coral Glades.
