It was an incredible holiday for Coral Springs High School, with the girls basketball team winning a tournament and the boys going undefeated in a showcase.
Coral Springs High School Girls Basketball
The Coral Springs High School girls basketball team won both their games in the Elite 32 Holiday Tournament to improve their record to 10-4 this season. The Colts defeated West Boca Raton Community High School 64-33 on Wednesday and beat Palm Beach Lake High School 56-43 in the Championship Game on Thursday.
“It feels great,” said Head Coach Brenton Hankerson. “We needed it just for a little morale boost. We had lost the last four of our previous five games coming in, but I can honestly say they were great teams, and the games were competitive.”
Next, the Colts will have some time off before playing Deerfield Beach High School on Jan 10 at 6 p.m. The Bucks are 4-8 this year but have wins over Cypress Bay, Boyd H. Anderson, Cooper City, and J.P. Taravella.
Coral Springs High School Boys Basketball
The Coral Springs High School boys basketball team also went 2-0, competing in the Legacy Sunshine State Explosion Showcase. The Colts defeated a pair of schools from Georgia, scoring a season-high 89 points in their opening game against meadow creek. They followed that up with a 63-51 victory over Druid High School on Thursday. Alex-Pierre Louis averaged 24 points in the two games. Jaheim Goldbourne had 13 in the first game and 17 in the second game as CSHS improved to 8-5 this year.
“I’m really happy with the way we played in this Showcase,” said Head Coach Devin Barta. “We had balanced scoring in both games with four different players in double digits, and we played tough defense in both games.”
Next, the Colts will also play Deerfield Beach High School on Jan 10 at 7:30 p.m. The boys team is 13-3 this year and has won 10 of their past 11 games.
