The Coral Springs Charter flag football team was crowned District Champions after opening the playoffs with a pair of shutout victories.
After earning the top seed and receiving a bye in the opening round, the Panthers—who went 11-2 during the regular season—defeated Avant Garde Academy 26-0. Ali Rodriguez threw for two touchdown passes while also rushing for 120 yards and a score. Her touchdown passes went to Eva Rodriguez and Riley Guerrera, and Lexi Bartell added a defensive highlight with a pick-six.
In the championship game, Coral Springs Charter relied on a strong defensive effort in a tight contest. Kaylee Stewart connected with Guerrera for the game’s only touchdown, securing the District title. Ali Rodriguez once again had a standout performance, finishing with 180 passing yards and 150 rushing yards. Next, they will play Avon Park in Regionals on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m.
Elsewhere, Coral Glades fell 18-6 to Piper High School in its opening playoff game. Coral Springs High School was edged 13-9 by West Boca Raton Community High School after previously defeating Deerfield Beach High School 30-6 in the postseason. J.P. Taravella finished the season 2-8, while Parkridge Christian Academy closed the year with a 7-2 record.
