The Coral Springs Charter Girls Bowling team won the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) championship at Strikers on October 6.
Coach Greg Mason said he was proud of the team and its third consecutive county championship. Mason said Cameron Thiele, Gensen Courtney, Faith Tucker, and Jazmyn Chung performed very well. “The whole team bowled exceptionally, and they have done well all season,” said Mason.
Thiele was excited about the victory. “It feels very good to win this championship. We play together as a team and have good team chemistry. I am confident we will win the district championship,” she said.
The Charter boys’ bowling team finished fifth, according to Mason.
The Taravella girls’ bowling team earned fourth place. The girls’ leading bowlers are Gabriela Sanchez and Chyanne Van Winkle.
According to the coach, Madison Rabun, Adam Acebedo is the top boys’ bowler. She said the boys’ team performed well in the tournament.
“We have a good team, and we are getting better. Last year, Taravella didn’t have a bowling team, and this year we have a good team,” added Rabun. “I believe the girls’ team can qualify for the state championship.”
