Polo and Gatsby {Broward County Animal Care}
An affectionate cat who returned to the shelter nine years after his adoption and a senior dog who loves staying close to his people are waiting for forever homes at Broward County Animal Care.
Gatsby, a 9-year-old domestic shorthair, was adopted from the shelter as a kitten and recently returned as an owner surrender. The 12-pound neutered male enjoys being petted, especially under his chin, and responds with gentle headbutts and purrs, according to Animal Care.
With his affectionate personality, Gatsby could be a welcome companion for someone seeking a lap cat. His animal identification number is A1909700.
Polo, a 13-year-old Chihuahua-dachshund mix, is a cuddly companion who enjoys following his people throughout the day. The 20-pound neutered male is housebroken and walks well on a leash.
Although Polo enjoys relaxing on the couch, he still has a playful side and likes to run around and play. Animal Care also reports that he tolerates dressing up in outfits and cozy sweaters. His animal identification number is A1860957.
Gatsby and Polo are available at Broward County Animal Care, 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. Adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
All adopted pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adopters pay only $25 for the Broward County registration tag.
