The Coral Glades Boys’ swim team finished seventh, and the girls’ swim team earned 12th place. Benjamin Denevi earned third place in the 200-freestyle, and Galen Tortorella took 4th in the 200 individual medley and earned sixth place in the 100-meter breaststroke, according to BCAA information.

Previously swimming for Coral Glades High School, Coral Springs resident Ethan Persten won the 100- and 200-meter freestyle. He now swims for the Cypress Bay High School swim team and is homeschooled.

This is the second year Persten has won the 100- and 200-meter freestyle at the county meeting, according to his father, Brian Persten.

“He loves the sport and puts his heart into every day. He trains twice a day, every day in the pool or the gym. He wants to swim in college and qualify for the Olympics,” said Brian.
