It is hard to believe we are already gearing up for another school year. The City of Coral Springs is excited to announce that 10 Coral Springs Schools received a grade of ‘A’ from the Department of Education for the 2021-2022 school year. To view our top-rated public and charter schools, the 2022-2023 Coral Springs Neighborhood Schools Guide is available to view. To celebrate the upcoming school year, families are invited to join us for our inaugural Back to School Bash ice skating event at the Panthers Ice Den on Friday, August 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. This free event is one of many interactive activities our Parks and Recreation Department hosts throughout the year to bring families together. Members of the Coral Springs Department of Budget and Strategy will provide an overview of the city’s budget process and answer resident questions during the Budget Academy held on August 29. There are two ways to attend, virtually from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. or in person at City Hall. The City of Coral Springs is excited to announce the launch of a new rental assistance program for residents whose annual rent increased exceeded more than 5% from April 2020 to the present day. The city will accept applications starting August 15. For more information, visit CoralSprings.gov/rent
August is often the most active month for tropical storms and hurricanes in South Florida. Now is a good time to review your family’s storm plan and ensure you have a disaster supply kit. Residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts by texting the keyword AlertCS to 888-777. Visit coralsprings.gov/hurricane for preparedness information and storm safety tips. This month’s Commission meetings will take place on August 3, 17, at 6:30 p.m. Meetings, are aired on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.7, 725, and on AT&T U-Verse channel 99.
