From the Coral Springs City Commission:
May in Coral Springs is a month filled with exciting events that celebrate community, creativity, and the many local opportunities for everyone to enjoy. As it coincides with Mental Health Awareness Month, the city reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of our community.
We want to share an important reminder: You Are Not Alone! There are resources available for anyone in need of assistance. Simply dial 2-1-1 or text 898211 to connect with local support or call 9-8-8 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Additionally, a Mental Health Town Hall with Mayor Scott Brook will take place on Tuesday, May 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall inside of Commission Chambers.
The Clergy Coalition of Coral Springs and Parkland, in partnership with the Coral Springs Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee, will honor and celebrate the Annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 1, at 7 p.m. at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts (2855 Coral Springs Drive.) Participants of all faiths are invited to join the ceremony.
May is also the perfect time to recognize our amazing educators during National Teacher Appreciation Week. From May 6-9, the city has partnered with local businesses to offer special deals in honor of the hard work and dedication of Coral Springs teachers. We encourage all teachers to take some time for themselves during this week of recognition.
Bites-N-Sips, the popular food truck event, returns on Friday, May 9, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Great Lawn at City Hall (9500 West Sample Road). This event includes food trucks, drink stations, live music, and more.
Checkmate! The King of Springs Chess tournament will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coral Springs Charter School Gymnasium (3205 N University). It is free and open to students ages 5 to 18. Pre-registration is required.
The city, in partnership with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, will host a special Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27, at 9 a.m. at Veterans Park (8601 Royal Palm Blvd). Join us in honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.
