It was tough for me to wrap my big head around a restaurant offering any food item for all-you-can-eat for six dollars and change.
This Taco Tuesday special is valid from 3:00 p.m. to close, but you must order a drink.
After speaking with my son, Hunter, and my friend Los Flo, I was convinced to try the Tuesday Tacos Special and the Monday Mucho Burrito Special for $5.99 each. Both of them raved about the food and prices at Patron Azteca.
I arranged with the Manager/Chef, Jaimie “Jimmy” Torres, to sample these tacos and possibly a few other items.
I invited my son, Los Flo, Talk Media Owner Sharon Baron, Photographer Adam Baron, and the Owner of Sharkey’s Bar and Grill, Richie Kushner, to dine with me.
Ambiance
The Patron Azteca is on the endcap of the shopping complex on the northeast corner of Royal Palm Boulevard and Coral Springs Drive.
There are two entrances, one on the south and the other on the west. There are also windows along both sides.
The entrance on the west leads into a small seating area with a full bar and a jukebox. You will see a dining room in the back as you walk past this.

The decor is typical Mexican flare, with pictures and posters of their weekly food/drink specials.
The bar area has a Tijuana, Mexico vibe, especially when busy. This place is not fancy and doesn’t need to be.
Service/Food
Our server was JJ, and she has a faithful following. Customers love her, and my buddy Mundo, “AKA Jukebox Hero,” says that JJ makes Patron Azteca extremely fun with her wonderful personality and service.
JJ did an excellent job!
The tacos come in hard or soft shells, three at a time. The proteins are Shredded Chicken, Pork/Beef, and Ground Beef. They come topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.

You also receive complimentary chips, salsa, and a black bean dip. The chips are warm, and the salsa is delicious and packs a nice spicy punch.
We all agreed this was an incredible deal when the tacos started rolling out.
These were typical American Mexican-style tacos, with flour tortillas for the soft tacos and corn tortillas for the hard.
Two diners thought the shredded chicken tacos were a little salty. The rest of us had no issues with them.

I would say the favorite was the shredded beef and pork. Nice big pieces of tender meat with just the right seasonings. This was very tasty.
The ground beef tacos were standard and nothing out of the ordinary. There were no issues with flavors.
My son, who isn’t a Taco fan, got the Chicken Taquitos for $12.95, the Azteca Queso Dip for $9.95, and the Chicken Mucho Burrito for $16.95. This same burrito is on sale for $5.99 on Mondays.

Don’t miss the two-for-one drinks at Patron Azteca.
Everyone loved the Chicken Taquitos! These are two rolled flour taquitos stuffed with chicken and jack cheese served crispy, garnished with tomatoes, Cotija Mexican cheese, sour cream, and guacamole.
The presentation was outstanding, and the chicken was full of flavor. I’ll order it again, and I recommend you do, too.
The Mucho Burrito was giant! It’s a super-sized flour tortilla filled with chicken, rice, and beans. It’s smothered with burrito sauce, and topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and Cotija Mexican cheese. My son loved it, and it was another great deal!

My son said the Azteca Queso Dip is some of the best in Broward County. It was so good that I heard Richie, the Owner of Sharkey’s Bar and Grill, attempt to get the recipe for it. Of course, Manager/Chef Jimmy politely declined his request.

Verdict
Are these the best tacos in Broward County? No. Are they worth the price? Hell yes!
I sat down and crunched the numbers to see if I had to make these tacos at home for myself. With the price of beef, chicken, pork, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, chips, and salsa, you save money by eating out and supporting this business. This is a no-brainer for a family of four at $26.00 minus tax, tip, and a drink.
Also, a Taco Bell Party Pack of 12 mixed tacos costs $25.99, and Patron Azteca blows their tacos away with meat and flavor.
Also, during Happy Hour, Monday through Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., you get two for one drinks, including house margaritas, well drinks, and select beers.
This is an easy four-beer rating.
I’m curious to see what everyone thinks of this deal and the restaurant.
Patron Azteca is planning a big party for Cinco De Mayo on Monday. They will be offering specials the entire day. Please contact the Patron Azteca for more information.
Remember to tell Jimmy and JJ that Dan I Cook, Hunter, Richie, Los, Sharon, and Adam sent you!
Stay Hungry!
Four beers = Outstanding
Three beers = Good
Two beers = OK
One beer = Needs work
