Coral Springs Crime Blotter: Fraud Case Nets $79K Loss

The Coral Springs Police Department reported numerous crimes across the city between March 16 and March 22, 2026. Please note that the police have redacted the names and addresses of most victims in most incidents.
Incident
A residential burglary with more than $11,000 in losses and a fraud case totaling $79,000 highlighted a busy week for Coral Springs police.
Notable Incidents
Burglary – Residence (Forced Entry):
A home in Coral Springs was burglarized on March 17, with an estimated loss of $11,220.
Fraud:
A victim reported losing approximately $79,000 in a fraud incident occurring between March 12 and March 18.
Fraud (Multiple Cases):
Several fraud reports were filed throughout the week, including losses of $10,705, $9,000, $1,500, and smaller amounts.
Sexual Battery:
A delayed report was filed involving an incident that occurred on Feb. 27.
Grand Theft (Firearm):
A firearm valued at $535 was reported stolen.
Aggravated Assault:
Two aggravated assault incidents were reported during the week.
Animal Cruelty:
An incident was reported on Ramblewood Drive.
Identity Theft:
Multiple cases of identity theft were reported.
Shoplifting / Retail Theft:
Incidents were reported at several businesses, including losses ranging from $34 to $526.
Burglary – Vehicle (Attempted):
An attempted burglary to a vehicle was reported with minimal loss.
Theft / Petit Theft:
Several thefts were reported throughout the city, including losses up to $570.
Theft of Credit Card / Fraudulent Use:
Victims reported unauthorized use of credit cards totaling more than $500.
Domestic Battery / Battery:
Multiple battery and domestic-related incidents were reported throughout the week.
Property Damage / Criminal Mischief:
Several incidents of property damage were reported, including damage to vehicles and city property.
Missing / Endangered Person:
A missing endangered person case was reported on March 20.
Missing Person:
Another missing person report was filed on March 19.
Medically Attended Deaths:
Three medically attended deaths were reported.
Baker Acts:
Several Baker Act cases were reported across the city.
Risk of Harm / Suspicious Incidents:
Multiple reports were filed involving welfare concerns and suspicious activity.

Whitlea Mitchell, 37: Capias arrest.
Leah Cooper, 46: Capias arrest.
Renee Benjamin, 34: Violation of probation.
Christopher Cooper, 43: Violation of domestic violence injunction.
Mikeria Harris, 23; Rayanna Vassell, 22; Shametria Milton, 21: Grand theft (retail theft $751–$5,000).
Angel Alvarez Alfaro, 36: Battery on a firefighter/EMS personnel.
Brianna Ascar, 24: Assault on law enforcement/first responder (verbal threat).
Joy Rene, 20: Domestic battery.
Mathias Honore, 72: Driving with suspended license.
Jose Echeverria, 65: Capias arrest.
Orlando Smith, 23: Retail theft; obstruction without violence.
Rose Demetro, 76; Lisa Demetro, 50: Retail theft.
Matthew Petrovic, 49: Loitering/prowling.
Kelrikkia May, 24: Grand theft (retail).
Brendan Brown, 32: Driving with suspended license.
Keiana McDonald, 24: Battery.
Stephanie Hoskins, 37: Capias arrest.
Stantavius Bartley, 27: Dating violence battery.
Cindy Pierre Louis, 26: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (domestic).
