Brianna Desiree Ascar {BSO}
A woman was arrested after police say she crashed a car on purpose to access a locked-out home, then resisted officers and damaged a patrol vehicle.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department booking report and complaint affidavit, Brianna Desiree Ascar, 24, of Miami Gardens, was taken into custody following a call to police about a vehicle crashing into a building near Northwest 90th Avenue.
Police say the call came in from a witness reporting that a vehicle had struck a building and that a loud noise was heard. The caller also reported seeing two women exit the vehicle, one of whom allegedly climbed onto the vehicle to access a second-floor balcony.
When officers arrived, they located a silver Chevrolet Spark with front-end damage parked behind the building. Officers noted footprints on the hood, consistent with someone having recently stood on the vehicle. Ascar was identified as the driver, and another woman was identified as a passenger.
According to the affidavit, officers instructed Ascar to turn off the vehicle, but she refused and became verbally hostile. Police say she ignored repeated commands, escalating the situation and preventing officers from safely investigating the crash.
Due to concerns that she could flee, officers attempted to remove her from the vehicle. Police say Ascar tensed her body and resisted efforts to place her in handcuffs, forcing officers to bring her to the ground before eventually securing her.
Investigators said Ascar continued to act aggressively after being detained, allegedly making threatening and derogatory statements toward officers. While being placed into a patrol vehicle, she reportedly kicked the door shut and struck part of the vehicle, causing significant damage.
The passenger told officers she had been locked out of her second-floor apartment and had called Ascar for help, which investigators say explains the unusual scene observed by witnesses.
Police also obtained CCTV footage from a nearby resident that allegedly showed Ascar standing on top of the vehicle attempting to access the balcony.
Ascar was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs for medical clearance before being booked into the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released after posting a $6,000 bond.
