Local student performers will take the stage next month as Next Stop Broadway’s Teen Theatre Project presents Chicago: Teen Edition with performances scheduled for Saturday, April 4, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The production brings together a group of talented students in eighth grade and above from area middle and high schools, offering them a pre-professional opportunity to develop their skills while performing a well-known musical adapted for teen performers.
According to Artistic Director Cynthia O’Brien, the program has been months in the making, with students beginning their training in September.
“Our students have been working so hard all season, beginning in September, working with our instructors and visiting industry professionals on audition techniques, getting more confident and comfortable performing,” O’Brien said. “Over the last few months, they have jumped into learning the signature Fosse style, figured out the unique vocal approach for the show, and spent time bringing the entire story to life.”
Tickets for Chicago: Teen Edition are available online at TheCenterCS.com. Discounted student rush tickets will also be offered through the box office on the day of the show.
Next Stop Broadway will continue its teen programming this summer with a production of Mean Girls the Musical, running from June 29 through July 31.
More information about the summer program is available at NSBNOW.com.
