While most students are on spring break, the Coral Springs High School baseball team was in action, playing in four games.
Coming off their fourth win of the season after an impressive 3-2 victory against Cardinal Gibbons, the Colts went 1-3 but still had some impressive performances.
Ruben Zuany and Ryan Guthrie had RBIs, while Andrew Allison and Saul Garcia combined to toss three scoreless innings in relief. Zuany added two more hits and an RBI in their 7-2 loss against Palmetto before Allison went 2-3 with an RBI against New Smyrna in a 7-1 loss.
The Colts won their final game on Friday, defeating IMG Academy Silver 3-1 behind a complete game from Bethancourt. He allowed only one run and four hits while striking out four. Zunay recorded two hits, including a triple, with Joseph Martinelli and Guthrie recording RBIs.
“We know exactly why we are where we are at this point, Head Coach John Brown said. “Our guys are really really young, but they know we can compete with anyone. Consistency equals success. We will continue to have that mindset day in and out.
CSHS is now 5-11 this year and will play Miami Springs High School in their next game on Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. The Golden Hawks are 8-6 this year and beat the Colts 11-1 in their only meeting last year.
