Reginald Earl Clinton {BSO}
A Coral Springs man was arrested after police say he threatened to shoot his stepson during a domestic incident.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest affidavit, officers responded to a 911 call on December 30 after a juvenile reported that his mother’s boyfriend, identified as Reginald Earl Clinton, 33, threatened to shoot him during an argument.
Investigators say the incident began when Clinton became upset after seeing the teen playing with his 1-year-old sister. The teen told police that Clinton yelled at him to put the child down and stop playing with her.
After going to his bedroom, the teen said Clinton later followed him, entered the room, and issued multiple death threats while gripping what appeared to be a firearm holstered in his waistband.
The teen told officers that Clinton said, “If you touch her again, I’m going to blow you to smithereens.” The teen then left the home and contacted law enforcement.
Police say Clinton left the residence shortly afterward in a black pickup truck with his 1-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son inside. Officers located the vehicle later that night and conducted a high-risk traffic stop near the intersection of Rock Island Road and Commercial Boulevard. Clinton was taken into custody without incident.
According to the arrest report, Clinton was charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony involving domestic violence and with failing to restrain a child properly.
He was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
