Coral Springs Police arrested a man on 16 charges, including sexual battery on a child and aggravated assault with a firearm.
Earen Kevin Huings, 49, was arrested on December 16 after repeated sexual abuse of a victim younger than 12, dating back to October 2017. The incidents occurred in several locations throughout Broward County, including Coral Springs.
Coral Springs Police were alerted to the incidents when they were called to the scene of an aggravated assault.
The victim is now 16.
According to the police report, the victim’s 17-year-old boyfriend confronted Huings about the sexual molestation at his home. Witnesses reported that Huings went inside, retrieved a silver revolver, and fired it alongside the teenager’s head. A bullet did not strike the teen; however, he was taken to Broward Health due to the pain caused by being shot near his ear.
During the investigation, detectives were permitted by the victim to search her phone. They found photo evidence as recently as December 15, 2022, of Huings sexually molesting her — enough evidence for them to file multiple charges against him.
Huings, who was born in the Bahamas, is being held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail.
