Coral Springs again played a large part in Local 10’s annual holiday-giving tradition.
Big Bus Tours and Local 10 News joined forces to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Local 10 Big Bus Toy Express last week, and The Walk of Coral Springs was featured live on air during a news segment covering the event.
During a live news segment with Local 10’s Kristi Krueger, The Walk’s Director of Marketing and Business Services, Gillian Johnson unveiled an oversized check representing a large donation.
“We’ve been able to raise $1,000 on behalf of The Walk and Amera Corp to donate to the Toys For Tots and the Marine Corp,” adding, “We’re so grateful for Channel 10 for their great efforts.”
Continuing on the live shot, Krueger showcased a trunk full of toys donated by Coral Springs residents, adding that the commitment to the Toys for Tots cause was extraordinary and would only add to the immense donations the drive had seen up to that point.
Event organizers share with Coral Springs Talk that the event surpassed all expectations, with over 11,000 new gifts and $32,000 in cash donations collected and delivered to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
The Local 10 Big Bus Toy Express has continued growing for ten years. News anchor Eric Yutzy led its decade-milestone campaign in Miami-Dade County, and Kristi Krueger in Broward County both appeared during multiple news broadcasts to highlight the tireless work and generosity involved in the event.
Event organizers share that in Miami-Dade County, Yutzy participated at the four Big Bus stops in Kendall, Doral, Downtown Miami, and Aventura on Friday morning, contributing to the collection of gifts while spreading holiday cheer.
Meanwhile, in Broward County, Krueger visited five Big Bus stops in Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Plantation, and Coral Springs on December 8.
Following the event, Fernando Brandt, Miami VP General & Manager for Big Bus Tours, shared his many thanks to the Coral Springs and neighboring communities for once again spreading generosity during the holiday season.
“We are deeply grateful to the South Florida community for supporting the Local 10 Big Bus Toy Express over the past ten years. This year’s gifts and donations demonstrate our community’s generosity and compassion. We look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition for many years.”
