Coral Sprints Run Club {David Volz}
Every Wednesday night at around 6:30 p.m., a group of runners gathers at The Walk of Coral Springs to participate in a two-mile run/walk.
They are part of a new activity known as Coral Sprints Run Club. Some of the participants are experienced and gifted runners, while others prefer to walk the course.
The goal is to create a fun fitness event, and people of all skill levels are welcome, according to Juan Charrias, founder of Coral Sprints.
Before moving to the area, Charrias was part of a running club in Fort Lauderdale. “I wanted to have a running community in Coral Springs, and I was able to get a group of people together,” he said.
The group started with 32 people about three months ago and now has more than 200 runners/walkers. There is a positive vibe among the runners, and people of all ages and abilities are welcome. Parents, some pushing babies in strollers or walking/running with younger children, participate alongside experienced athletes or individuals new to distance running.
At the end of the run, participants enjoy water, snacks, and fellowship. Participation is free, but people are encouraged to RSVP at Sweatpals.com.
