A Country Hills Elementary School staff member and her husband were both recently diagnosed with cancer, leaving the parents in need of help from their community, according to a new GoFundMe campaign.
Neither Caryn Cuadra, a media specialist at the Coral Springs school, nor her husband Pablo Cuadra ever imagined facing two cancer diagnoses at once, the fundraising page states, yet the couple has remained “so very optimistic and determined to push forward.”
Following Caryn Cuadra’s gallbladder removal and a subsequent liver surgery to address the presence of tumors, the educator is starting chemotherapy, the page states.
Pablo Cuadra is bravely facing renal-cell carcinoma and upcoming surgery, according to the page.
The couple have two children, Katie and Liam.
“The family is close and will hold each other tight through this journey, but they need help,” the campaign organizers wrote. “Their financial strain of medical bills and lost income is significant. We’re reaching out for your support to help ease this burden and allow them to concentrate on healing. Your generosity will provide hope and strength during this difficult time.”
Anyone able to help by contributing a meal, a financial donation, or both, “will help lessen their burden right now,” the page states.
The campaign as of Tuesday had raised more than $4,400 toward its $5,000 goal.
