An unemployed couple was arrested for stealing invaluable keepsakes from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Memorial late Sunday night.
At approximately 10:20 p.m. Michael Shawn Kennedy, 37, from Hollywood, Florida and Kara O’Neil, 40, of Fulton, New York were arrested after witnesses saw them stealing items including teddy bears, plaques, and pin wheels from the designated memorial honoring the 17 shooting victims located in front of the Parkland school.
According to the Broward’s Sheriff’s Office, their vehicle was parked in the roadway blocking the right turn lane in front of the monument and they had no permission or authority to remove the items or damage the monument for the victims.
