Jeff Kelly, General Manager of Dave’s Hot Chicken {David Volz}
Jeff Kelly is beginning to live his dream.
Kelly is the general manager of Dave’s Hot Chicken, which opened at 2560 N. University Drive. A veteran of other restaurants and businesses, he believes the Dave’s concept will be very successful.
“We offer great chicken strips, sliders, fries, and mac and cheese. We are great at making chicken, and that is our focus,” said Kelly. “I have a young family, and I believe there is a great future here.”
Community is important to Kelly, who grew up in Coral Springs and graduated from J.P. Taravella High School. “Some of our team members attend Taravella, and I want us to be a part of Coral Springs.”
Dave’s held a special event for the restaurant’s family and friends. Guests were lined up outside the restaurant, eager to taste the chicken. There was an upbeat atmosphere as families and friend groups enjoyed dinner. City manager Catherine Givens attended the evening event.
Eric Houseman, a franchisee, believes Dave’s will be successful in Broward County. The Coral Springs location is the group’s third in Broward, and its goal is to have ten restaurants in the county.
“I consider myself in the people business, and I want people to have a fun experience at Dave’s,” said Housman. “We call the people who eat here guests and the people who work here teammates.”
Being a part of the community is important to Houseman. “I want Kelly to be like the mayor of Coral Springs. We will sponsor local athletic teams and become involved with local schools,” he said.
They are open Thursday and officially open on Friday, Nov. 14, with a ribbon-cutting. Business hours are Sunday-Thursday, 11 am – 11 pm, and Friday–Saturday, 11 am – 1 am.
