A Broward County School Board member is seeking support for her re-election campaign.
Debbi Hixon’s re-election fundraiser to the Broward County School Board Seat 9 is held on Monday, June 24, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at BJ’s Restaurant.
Hixon, seeking to continue her work on the school board, will be joined by several local officials and supporters.
Hixon has a deep personal connection to making the Broward County school system a better, safer place for children to learn. In 2018, she tragically lost her husband, Chris Hixon, in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting. He was the athletic director who ran into the building that day to try to stop the shooter.
The guest list includes State Senator Tina Polsky, State Representatives Christine Hunschofsky, and Dan Daley. Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook, Vice Mayor Shawn and Kerry Cerra, and Commissioners Nancy Metayer Bowen, Joshua Simmons, and Joy Carter.
In addition to Coral Springs officials, Parkland Mayor Rich Walker, Vice Mayor Jordan Isrow, and Parkland commissioners Simeon Brier and Ken Cutler are slated to attend.
Coconut Creek Commissioner Josh Rydell and Jeff Wasserman will also highlight the widespread support for Hixon’s re-election campaign.
Supporters are encouraged to RSVP for the event at https://rsvp.debbihixon.com/rsvp and can find more information about Hixon’s campaign at www.ReElectDebbiHixonforSchoolBoard.com.
Hixon, first elected in November 2020, began her education career in 1989 as a science teacher and swim coach at Blanche Ely High School, later moving to South Broward High School in 1994.
As a board member, her campaign messaging has centered around her dedication to ensuring the district provides the necessary resources and support for all students to excel and be prepared for their future paths.
