Theresa Kay Brown {BSO}
A disturbance at a gym in Coral Springs led police to a woman accused of attacking three family members, including a 70-year-old woman.
Coral Springs Police Department arrest records show Theresa Kay Brown, 43, of Coral Springs, was arrested on October 13 after officers responded to EOS Gym at 2322 North University Drive, where an employee had requested that she be trespassed from the property.
Police arrived and encountered Brown, who appeared extremely agitated, was sweating profusely, and was swaying while speaking with officers.
According to the arrest affidavit, Brown repeatedly claimed that her brother had battered her and requested that an officer respond to the scene. She also allegedly shouted profanities at gym patrons entering and exiting the business.
Based on previous encounters with Brown, along with her behavior and physical appearance, the responding officer suspected she might be under the influence.
Rather than dismissing Brown’s allegations, officers began investigating her claims and traveled to her mother’s residence to interview the family members involved.
What investigators discovered was an account of a chaotic confrontation inside the home, where Brown had allegedly fought with several relatives, attempted to take car keys and a cellphone, and ripped necklaces from family members during physical struggles.
Family members described Brown as screaming and behaving erratically, attempting to steal items, and assaulting them.
Brown was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs for medical clearance before being booked into the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Main Jail.
