Extended Kids Care, a newly opened Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care facility specializing in the care of children with complex medical needs, is hosting a grand opening event to connect with families seeking specialized pediatric services.
Located at 3000 Northwest 101st Lane, Unit 101, Extended Kids Care will celebrate its grand opening on April 29 at 4:00 p.m.
Now open and accepting patients, Extended Kids Care’s official grand opening is a chance for families of children with medical complexities to learn more about a new source of support and specialized care, particularly for working professionals or those needing subsidiary care.
Griselda Duvergel, APRN, the administrator and owner of Extended Kids Care, recently shared her journey and inspiration with Coral Springs Talk. “Our journey began as a deeply personal one,” Duvergel said. “My husband and I, both immigrants, faced an unexpected challenge when our son was diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy. This experience reshaped our lives, pushing us to learn everything we could in the medical and behavioral fields to provide the best care for him.”
Recognizing families’ struggles in finding specialized, high-quality care for children with complex medical needs, Duvergel and her business partner—another dedicated Nurse Practitioner—founded Extended Kids Care.
“We saw firsthand the gap in services and wanted to create a place where children like our son can receive the medical attention, therapies, and support they need to thrive,”
Duvergel tells Coral Springs Talk Extended Kids Care is anything but a traditional daycare. As a PPEC facility, it offers physician-prescribed skilled nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, and behavioral therapy—all under one roof.
The all-encompassing model ensures children receive structured medical and developmental support while allowing parents to work or manage other responsibilities with peace of mind.
“Being both a mother and a Nurse Practitioner has given me a unique perspective on the needs of children with complex conditions,” Duvergel explains, “We prioritize not only the child’s medical needs but also their emotional well-being and family support.”
While well-intentioned, Duvergel reveals that opening the facility was challenging. She described the process as a steep learning curve.
“One of our biggest hurdles was navigating the regulatory and financial aspects of opening a PPEC,” she said. “As healthcare professionals, we had to enter the business world and learn everything from licensing to facility development. We overcame these hurdles through persistence, community support, and partnerships and are excited to bring this vision to life.”
With its doors soon officially open, Extended Kids Care is already accepting new patients, offering a vital resource for families who previously struggled to find adequate care for their children. “We hope to create a community of support and advocacy where families feel empowered,” Duvergel said.
In terms of affordability for those families who need the care most, there is good news – Extended Kids Care is Medicaid-covered, making it accessible for families regardless of financial situation.
For parents struggling to find specialized care for their children, Duvergel offers a reassuring message:
“You are not alone. We know how overwhelming it can feel, but there are people and resources out there who truly care and want to help. Extended Kids Care was built from a place of love and personal experience—we are here to support you, advocate for you, and ensure that your child receives the best possible care.”
