Kendrick Sharpe {BSO}
A coordinated response by the Coral Springs Police Department and the Broward Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a suspect following an armed robbery incident that occurred in Coral Springs.
According to Coral Springs Police records, on May 2, a victim reported being robbed at gunpoint after a car sale went awry.
The victim initially contacted the suspect, later identified as Kendrick Sharpe, 26, via Facebook Marketplace, to purchase a black 2009 Nissan Altima listed by an individual named “Ken Edwards.”
Initially set at a local Walmart, the meeting led to a series of events in which the victim was driven to a Bank of America to withdraw $1,500—the agreed sale price.
Post-withdrawal, Sharpe, rather than concluding the deal, drove to a nearby apartment complex, where he robbed the victim at gunpoint and fled with the cash.
According to CSPD, using a partial plate number provided by the victim, officers from their Real-time Crime unit identified Sharpe’s vehicle via license plate readers installed at 56th Drive and Coral Ridge Drive.
The Nissan was seen exiting the area at approximately 9:25 a.m. A further check revealed that the vehicle was incorrectly using a license plate registered to a blue Toyota.
On May 2, Sharpe was apprehended by the BSO VIPER unit at a Racetrack gas station in North Lauderdale. During the arrest, officers observed a handgun and retrieved a significant sum of cash from Sharpe’s possession, linking him directly to the crime.
Following his arrest, Sharpe was transported to the Coral Springs Police Department, where he eventually confessed to the robbery after being read his Miranda rights.
The stolen cash was returned to the victim.
Sharpe was transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he is being held with no bond.
