Floor & Decor is preparing to open a new location convenient to shoppers in northwest Broward County.
The flooring material retailer is slated to open its doors in late August at 11711 W. Sample Road.
It joins other Broward County locations in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Pembroke Pines.
The future location of Floor & Decor is on an 8.9-acre lot in the city’s Industrial, Research, and Development (IRD) Zone within Commerce Park. The total area is 98,000 square feet. Of that, 18,000 square feet will remain unoccupied and used for warehouse space. According to city documents, the other 80,000 square feet will be retail space.
Floor & Decor focuses on hard surface flooring with options such as tile, wood, stone, flooring tools, and other accessories.
Since the new location will be in the IRD zone, Floor and Decor needed conditional use approval from the city, which the administrative and zoning review committee approved at their Nov. 17, 2021 meeting.
As part of the conditional use, Floor & Decor would need city approval for future expansions. The conditional use applies only to Floor and Decor operating at that location, and the warehouse must install certain landscaping and screening features.
The store hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
According to Kristi Bartlett, Director of Economic Development, the new location will create about 40 jobs. She said the new location would allow residents more options for flooring, and it will help the city by bringing in more tax revenue.
“The city is always excited to welcome a new business into our Commerce Park, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Floor & Decor,” she said.
