Foodeyez Caribbean was ordered to shut down after a state inspection uncovered live and dead roaches, standing water, and food stored at unsafe temperatures.
According to a Florida Department of Health inspection report, Foodeyez Caribbean, located at 6268 West Sample Road, was ordered closed on July 30 after inspectors documented 10 violations.
Among the most serious findings was what inspectors described as active roach activity inside the restaurant’s kitchen. Records show inspectors found roach activity present behind the steam table in the kitchen. Inspectors also discovered several dead roaches in other areas of the restaurant.
According to the report, dead roaches were found behind refrigerators at the front counter and a flip-top cooler on the cook line.
Conditions around the cooking area were also cited during the inspection. Inspectors reported that the floor behind cooking equipment on the cook line was soiled and had an accumulation of food debris.
Standing water was also found on the floor behind the cooking equipment, and temperature control for food requiring refrigeration was also cited as a violation.
In total, inspectors documented 10 violations before ordering Foodeyez Caribbean to close temporarily.
The restaurant was ordered to address the issues prior to a reinspection or clearance to reopen.
