Former Coral Glades football teammates Andre Barnes Jr. and Caymen Hoffman faced off against each other for the first time in college.
Barnes, who graduated in 2021, a year after Hoffman, attends Monmouth College in Illinois.
A sophomore at the Beloit College in Wisconsin, Hoffman fell to his former teammate 63-3.
This win meant a little more for Barnes, knowing that there would be some bragging rights on the line.
“It meant everything to me being able to know that you’re close to someone who went to the same high school as you,” Barnes said. “It’s only the beginning from here. Caymen and I got a brotherhood that’ll never be broken no matter what.”
In high school, Barnes had seven tackles during the 2019 football season. Then as a senior, he excelled both on and off the field.
For Hoffman, he recorded one tackle in their game on Saturday against Monmouth. His first career tackle came against Cornell College on September 11.
Both these former Jaguars will be back in action on Saturday, October 31, when Barnes plays at Cornell College while Hoffman travels to Wisconsin and play Lawrence University as the Buccaneers search for their first win of the season.
