Former Coral Springs Mayor Roy Gold will be recognized for decades of civic leadership and community service during the 42nd Annual Dr. Nan S. Hutchison Broward Senior Hall of Fame Breakfast hosted by the Area Agency on Aging of Broward County on May 29 in Plantation.
Gold, a former mayor, vice mayor, and city commissioner in Coral Springs, was selected as one of 10 Broward County senior volunteers to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Organizers said his leadership helped shape environmental initiatives, public safety improvements, and community engagement efforts throughout the city and Broward County.
According to the AAABC, Gold played a key role in projects including the creation of four city parks, the redevelopment of public safety facilities, and the founding of Florida’s largest city-managed community garden. He has also held leadership positions with the National League of Cities, Florida League of Cities and Broward League of Cities.
The annual breakfast recognizes Broward residents age 60 and older who have made significant volunteer contributions to the community. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, May 29, at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale West Hotel.
Other 2026 Hall of Fame honorees include Mikkie Belvedere, Michael Brodie, Mayor Angelo Castillo, Lorna Goodison, Bob Mayersohn, Dr. Rudolph Moise, Rosalind Perlmutter, Silvia Quintana, and Barry Solomon.
“For our 42nd annual Hall of Fame, these older adult volunteers represent the very best of Broward County,” said Charlotte Mather-Taylor, CEO of AAABC, in a statement. “Their service, leadership, and commitment continue to strengthen our community, and we are honored to recognize their lasting impact.”
The event is sponsored by organizations including the City of Pembroke Pines, Carl Schechter Southwest Focal Point Senior Center, United Homecare, Amazon, Broward Health, and Memorial Healthcare System. Following the ceremony, plaques honoring each inductee will be displayed in the Broward County Government Building.
