Eldil-Berto Buenano {BSO}
A man is facing a felony child abuse charge after police say he gave his 12-year-old stepdaughter marijuana-laced gummies, which left the child sick and hospitalized.
Eldil-Berto Buenano, of Coral Springs, was charged with one count of child abuse without significant bodily harm, according to authorities.
Police said the incident came to light after the child became ill and was taken to the hospital. Detectives with the Coral Springs Police Department determined the gummies contained marijuana.
Investigators also allege Buenano gave the child’s mother marijuana-laced gummies without her knowledge or consent. Police said the mother also became sick, and both she and her daughter were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Buenano appeared in bond court on Monday, where a judge set his bond at $50,000.
The case remains under investigation.
