The Coral Springs Charter wrestling team competed in the Key West High School Invitational Wrestling Tournament on December 19 and 20.
The Charter wrestlers earned 11th place out of 15 teams. “Our wrestlers did well, better than I expected,” said coach Eric Perez.
His son, Elijah Perez, did not participate because of an injury. Elijah, a senior and the team captain, has a 6-0 record and 115 career wins. “We hope he can get to 150 wins,” said Eric. “It takes dedication and a desire to get better to be successful in wrestling. I want our wrestlers to be good students and do well in life.”
According to Eric, the results from the Key West Invitational include: Blake Eden, 5th place; Nathan Carlisle, 12th place; Andrew Ridge, 8th place; Rocco Nocito, 15th place; and Noah See, 12th place. Cash Connor took 6th place, Logan Bosworth 13th place, Juan Lopez 5th place, and Xavier Mejias 9th place.
Next up for the Charter wrestlers is a tournament at Cardinal Gibbons High School on December 29 and 30.
