Danielle Rosaria has been dreading father-related school events since her domestic partner Ryan Fisher passed away a few weeks after their daughter Kelsee’s first birthday.
Only 37, Fisher, a sales manager at Vista BMW Coconut Creek in Margate, passed away at home, quietly in his sleep, on the morning of January 7, 2020.
“I was at a Mother’s Day event, and I remember there was one child that nobody showed up for. Not sure of the reason, but it broke my heart,” Rosaria said.
When Kelsee’s preschool, Wee Kids Preschool at 11401 NW 56th Drive, sent home an invitation to their Donuts with Dad event, Rosaria texted a screenshot of the invitation to her family group text.
She felt sad and was dreading something like this since his death. “She was only one at the time, and all that goes through my head when these daddy events happen,” said Rosaria. “It’s not only one day; they teach them songs about daddy and make crafts.”
After seeing the screenshot of the event, Kelsee’s godfather, and uncle, Alex Greenberg, who is married to Fisher’s sister Kasey, immediately booked a back-to-back flight from Philadelphia to South Florida, where he scheduled an Uber and showed up at Kelsee’s preschool to surprise her the very next day.
“Wee Kids called me to confirm he was, in fact, allowed in,” said Rosaria when Greenberg showed up at the preschool’s entrance to surprise Kelsee at the Donut-with-Dads event.
When Kelsee saw her godfather walk into her classroom, she was ecstatic, to say the least, and was able to celebrate the event together with him, said Rosaria.
In a Facebook post celebrating the unexpected surprise from Greenberg, Rosaria said, “Ryan Fisher made a few great decisions in life, and you were definitely one of them!”
