The J.P. Taravella wrestling team performed well at the Bulldog Brawl on Saturday, January 17, at South Broward High School.
The Trojans were 4-2 as a team and defeated North Miami, Dillard, American Heritage, and Miami Central.
Coach Michael Bazos gave the team’s most valuable player awards to Jadason Jimenez (126 pounds), who had four pins but lost two matches, and Daniel Delgado (215 pounds), who was 5-1 with four pins.
“As a team, we did really well. We had a lot of young wrestlers in the lineup, and they did a good job,” said Bazos.
The team is currently preparing for the tri-county tournament on February 5 and 6 at Olympic Heights High School. “This will be a very tough tournament, like a state championship-level meet,” said Bazos.
