Residents of the Kensington Glen Homeowners Association gathered on March 7 for a neighborhood celebration hosted by the City of Coral Springs to mark the completion of roadway and walkway improvements throughout the community.
Held at one of the neighborhood’s two parks, the event celebrated recent infrastructure upgrades that included repaving, restriping, and ADA-compliant improvements to public walkways. Road repaving was funded through a combination of municipal budget allocations, local option gas taxes, and, for specific qualified areas, federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
The City’s Development Services Department organized the celebration, providing food, beverages, games, and city-themed giveaways for attendees. Representatives from the Coral Springs Police Department and Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department also attended, displaying service vehicles and speaking with residents.
City Commissioners Joshua Simmons and Shawn Cerra were present at the event, spending time meeting with residents and neighborhood leaders.
Representing the Kensington Glen Board of Directors were President Gil Sternbach, Vice President Ellen Westerdale, Secretary and Architectural Review Committee Chair Alexis Rocha, and Treasurer Ryan Lasseter. Director Rodrigo Castro was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict. Property Manager Yosmel Rabelo attended on behalf of Next Generation Management and Accounting, the HOA’s property management company.
“We are immensely grateful to the City for their initiative and generosity in offering to host this celebration event,” Westerdale said. “Members of our community collaborated to ensure the event’s success.”
Additional festivities included a Kona Ice truck and live musical entertainment performed by members of resident Chrissy Reinhold’s extended family.
Approximately 100 residents participated in the celebration, connecting with city officials, speaking with HOA board members, and socializing with neighbors. Children enjoyed games including cornhole, Connect Four, and giant Jenga, all provided by city staff.

During the event, the HOA Board of Directors also unveiled a proposed redesign for the community’s entrance signage walls. The design was created by Kensington Glen resident and architectural designer Nicole Franzese. The rendering was professionally printed and mounted for display by fellow resident Jan Geller.
According to the HOA, the project will unify the Chelsea and Kensington Glen sections of the development under a single community name.
Sternbach said the board has been planning the capital improvement project for several years.
“It should significantly enhance the curb appeal of our community and contribute to property values,” Sternbach said. “Most importantly, we want our owners to be proud of the general appearance of the development in which they live.”
The board is currently seeking bids for the signage project and plans to apply for the City of Coral Springs’ matching grant program, which supports neighborhood capital improvement and beautification initiatives.
