A man disguised as a woman was arrested after police say he stole hundreds of dollars’ worth of merchandise, including a large amount of Red Bull energy drinks, from Target.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest affidavit, officers responded to the Target located at 4400 North State Road 7 on October 21 following reports of a retail theft in progress.
Loss-prevention employees told police that the alleged suspect, later identified as Korrion Douglas Drakewood, 27, of Fort Lauderdale, entered the store, loaded a shopping cart with several towels, 13 cans of Red Bull energy drink, and multiple home and beauty products, then walked out without paying.
When staff attempted to stop him outside the store, Drakewood allegedly fled through the parking lot heading south.
While canvassing the area, officers were advised that the suspect was described as a male wearing women’s clothing. Officers soon located Drakewood nearby, in the parking lot at 4180 North State Road 7, and detained him.
During the interview, records show that Drakewood reportedly admitted his intent upon entering the store was to steal merchandise. Officers recovered a green bag containing a wig, pink shirt, and black pants, consistent with witness descriptions.
The total value of the stolen merchandise was $408.81, which was returned to the store.
Further investigation revealed that Drakewood was currently on felony probation for prior theft-related convictions. His probation was active until 2029.
Drakewood was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
