A striking new illuminated sculpture is now on display at Mullins Park as part of the City of Coral Springs’ 250th Anniversary Temporary Sculpture Program, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The installation, titled Liberty Lines, was created by Miami artist Brandon Amira and stands 14 feet tall behind the park’s playground. The temporary public artwork is free to view throughout the day and evening through July 31, 2027.
Constructed of metal and illuminated by 4,269 integrated LED lights, the sculpture presents a bold architectural appearance during daylight hours. After sunset, concealed lighting transforms the installation into a dramatically different visual experience, encouraging visitors to return after dark to experience the artwork from a new perspective.
“With Liberty Lines, I wanted to create a sculpture that changes with its environment and invites people to engage with public art in a new way,” Amira said.
Amira is a Miami-based artist, designer, inventor and Florida-licensed general contractor known for creating illuminated public and private sculptures and architectural installations that combine art, architecture and light.
Under the agreement approved by the city, Amira will receive $5,000 to display the sculpture during the one-year exhibition. At the conclusion of the program, the Coral Springs Public Art Committee may recommend purchasing Liberty Lines for permanent installation at Veterans Park. If approved, the acquisition price would be $100,000.
City officials stated that public art projects are funded through Coral Springs’ Public Art Program, which is supported by developer impact fees rather than ad valorem property taxes.
The funding comes from fees collected on qualifying new development and redevelopment projects within the city.
