A man is facing felony theft charges after police say he attempted to steal more than $2,000 worth of beauty products from Publix.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department report, Taylor Elliot Wesson, 28, of Fort Lauderdale, was arrested on May 12 after store employees reported a retail theft in progress at Publix, 2201 North University Drive.
Store managers told officers that a man, later identified as Wesson, entered the store and filled a cooler and two reusable bags with shampoos, hair products, and cosmetics, then quickly exited the store without attempting to pay.Â
The report shows that Publix estimated the total value of the stolen items to be $2,148.88.
Law enforcement alleges Wesson fled on foot after ditching the stolen items outside. Publix staff followed him until police arrived. According to the report, officers quickly located Wesson behind a nearby Panera Bread and detained him without incident.
Wesson was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
