Missy and DJ Qualls {Broward County Animal Care}
Broward County Animal Care is spotlighting two affectionate American Staffordshire Terrier mixes as its Pets of the Week, both ready to find loving homes in time for the holidays.
Missy, a 5-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix, has come a long way since she was discovered in August inside a stolen vehicle along with three other dogs. Never reclaimed, Missy quickly proved to be an all-around standout. Staff and volunteers describe her as sweet, affectionate, and highly social with other dogs. She also excelled at a recent busy community event filled with families and children.
Shelter staff say Missy is ideal for an active household and easily keeps up with any adventure. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and available with waived adoption fees — adopters need only pay the $25 Broward County pet registration fee.
DJ Qualls, a 1-year, 8-month-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix, was found wandering as a stray in Davie in September. The compact “low rider,” as volunteers affectionately call her, has quickly become a favorite. Sweet-natured with the perfect amount of energy, DJ Qualls enjoys the company of other dogs her size or larger and has been gentle and loving with children.
She shines on her Broward Buddies outings, where volunteers take shelter dogs on day trips to enjoy time outside the kennels. DJ Qualls is also spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and available with waived adoption fees, with only a $25 pet registration tag required.
Those looking to add a four-legged family member this holiday season can meet Missy, DJ Qualls, and many other adoptable pets at Broward County Animal Care, located at 2400 SW 42nd Street in Fort Lauderdale. The shelter is open for adoptions daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All adopted pets leave spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. To view available animals, visit PetAdoptions.Broward.org.
