The City of Coral Springs, in collaboration with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, will hold a special Memorial Day Ceremony to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.

The event will take place on Monday, May 27, at 9:00 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at 8601 Royal Palm Blvd.

This year’s keynote speaker is Sandi Winters, a U.S. Army veteran with an extensive background in military and veteran services.

Winters joined the U.S. Army in 1985 and began her career at the 15th Evacuation Hospital in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. She later served as an ammunition specialist in the U.S. Army Reserves in West Virginia. In 1990, Winters relocated to Seoul, Korea, where she worked for three years as a U.S. Government Civilian with the Korean Ministry of National Defense, contributing to the establishment of an Armed Forces Korean Network Station.

After moving to Florida in 2003, Winters became actively involved in veteran support organizations. She served as Vice Commander of the 277th Post of the American Legion in Boca Raton and is currently a member of the 142nd Post in Pompano Beach.

Winters continues to serve the veteran community through her roles with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, as a volunteer at the VA Clinic in Sunrise, and as the current Regent of the Lighthouse Point Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughter of the Republic of Texas.

The city invites all residents to join in honoring the nation’s fallen heroes. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Coral Springs Gymnasium at 2501 Coral Springs Drive.
