A Coral Springs mother interrupted an encounter involving her 15-year-old son and an adult man in a park restroom after police say a TikTok ad led the teen to a hookup app.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Roberto Andres Vallejo, 38, of Margate, was taken into custody on June 5 and charged with lewd or lascivious battery involving a victim between the ages of 12 and 16.
Investigators said the incident occurred on June 3 at Tall Cypress Natural Area, located at 3700 Turtle Run Blvd. The teen's mother told police she dropped her son off at the park while she went shopping at a nearby Publix. When she returned, she waited outside the park's men's restroom and repeatedly attempted to contact him.
After receiving a text message from her son requesting more time and becoming concerned when he stopped responding, she walked to the restroom to check on him.
Police said the mother told investigators she opened the restroom door and found her son kneeling inside a stall performing oral sex on Vallejo, whom she attempted to tackle, but was unsuccessful. Before he left, she photographed his license plate.
According to the arrest affidavit, the teen told investigators he was walking around Tall Cypress Natural Area and on TikTok when an advertisement for the meet-up app Sniffies appeared. He told police he clicked on it and noticed a nearby user icon that appeared to be close to his location. Investigators say he later met Vallejo inside the park's restroom.
Vallejo allegedly acknowledged being in the restroom stall with the teen but denied that any sexual activity occurred. During the interview, police noted that Vallejo referred to the teen as a "kid" multiple times.
Vallejo was subsequently arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
