MSD Dental Studio cofounder Dr. Matthew Dillon has been named to Incisal Edge’s national “40 Under 40” list for 2026.
Dr. Matthew Dillon, cofounder, dentist, and practice owner of MSD Dental Studio, was selected for the national list by an independent panel of judges and is expected to be featured in the publication’s fall issue.
The recognition comes a little more than a year after MSD Dental Studio celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in February of 2025.
For Dillon, the honor is meaningful but also reflects the steady process of building a practice in a competitive South Florida market.
“It’s meaningful, but more than anything, it reflects the process and the support behind it,” Dillon tells Coral Springs Talk, adding, “We knew early on it would take time to grow this practice.”
Dillon said opening and growing a dental practice in South Florida comes with challenges, but he believes commitment to the community matters.
“People say it’s too competitive, or that there are easier places than South Florida to set up a practice,” he said. “That may be true, but if you love where you are, you make it work.”
Dillon said he believes patients increasingly value communication, trust, and a slower, more thoughtful approach to care.
“In dentistry and medicine, you’re surrounded by people operating at a high level,” he said. “Over time, you realize technical skill and knowledge are expected; what separates you is how you apply it, how you communicate, and whether patients trust you.”
According to Dillon, MSD Dental Studio has evolved since opening by focusing more closely on systems, patient flow, scheduling, and the overall experience of each visit.
“Early on, it’s about getting up and running,” he said. “Over time, it becomes about tightening everything; how the day flows, how patients are guided, and how consistent the experience feels.”
Dillon said patient expectations around dentistry are changing, with more people asking detailed questions, seeking second opinions, and wanting to better understand treatment recommendations before making decisions.
“Patients are more informed and asking better questions,” Dillon said. “With the rise of AI, they’re coming in with more information, and if something doesn’t feel right, they’ll say it.”
He said that the shift is positive because it pushes providers to communicate more clearly.
“When patients feel rushed or unclear, they look for another perspective,” Dillon said. “The solution is simple: slow things down, explain clearly, and give people space to make decisions they feel confident in.”
Dillon said wait times and scheduling are also becoming a larger part of the dental experience.
“A bigger role than most people realize,” he said. “In previous offices, I saw how common long wait times were—and it never felt right. Making people wait is a poor first impression.”
He said MSD Dental Studio focuses on preparation, clear plans, organized systems, and technology that improve outcomes and efficiency.
“Technology plays a role, but only when it actually improves outcomes and efficiency,” Dillon said.
Dillon’s selection also reflects his community involvement, including volunteer and fundraising work with the Humane Society of Broward County. He said he volunteers weekly, often helping bathe larger dogs such as shepherds, retrievers, and pit bulls.
“Most people there don’t even know I’m a dentist; they just see me as the guy wrestling the big dogs into the tub,” Dillon said.
He said the work helps keep him grounded.
“It’s simple, hands-on work where showing up consistently actually makes a difference, and that perspective carries back into everything else I do at MSD,” Dillon said.
Dillon said he hopes the practice continues to grow not only as a dental office but also as a business with a greater impact in the community.
“As we grow, I want that to expand not just financially, but with time and presence,” he said. “It’s important that what we’re building has an impact beyond dentistry.”
For Coral Springs residents choosing a dental provider, Dillon said the details matter.
“Pay attention to how you feel during the visit,” he said. “Do you feel understood? Guided, not rushed?”
He added that the office environment can say a lot about the quality of care.
“Dentistry is very technique-sensitive,” Dillon said. “The environment, the team, and the approach all matter. You want a place focused on long-term outcomes, not quick decisions.”
