Skylee Merino {CSPD}
Missing Coral Springs teenager Skylee Merino has been located safe in Georgia following a multi-state investigation, police said Wednesday.
Coral Springs Police announced that the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office had found the 15-year-old Merino in suburban Georgia outside Atlanta on Wednesday. She had last been seen locally in Tamarac on April 21.
Authorities said detectives with CSPD’s Crimes Against Persons Unit determined her location through “numerous investigative resources” during their runaway juvenile investigation.
Police said Merino was found unharmed and in good health.
Her parents have been notified and are making arrangements to reunite with her in Georgia, according to investigators.
The case prompted a large coordinated effort spanning multiple jurisdictions in Florida and beyond, police said. Coral Springs detectives received investigative assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Broward Sheriff’s Office, Boca Raton Police Department, Delray Beach Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Orlando Police Department, Jackson Township Police Department, and the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, according to CSPD.
Investigators had traced Merino’s movements through multiple Florida cities after she disappeared, including stops in Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Orlando, police said.
Detectives previously said there was no indication Merino had been the victim of a crime.
No additional information about the case was made public on Wednesday.
