Kings and rooks alike are invited to make their move at the Parks and Recreation Department’s monthly all-ages chess event.
The “Open Play Chess” meet-up is set to take place at the Coral Springs Gymnasium. It will offer chess enthusiasts of all skill levels the opportunity to play casual games on select Wednesdays throughout the year.
The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Notably, the first session of each month will now feature instruction from a qualified coach from the National Scholastic of Chess Foundation. This addition aims to help beginners sharpen their skills and offer advanced players the chance to refine their strategies.
Chess lovers of all ages are encouraged to drop in, as no pre-registration is required, and the event is completely free.

- Wednesday, December 4, 2024 | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, January 15, 2025, | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Additional sessions through April 2025
