The southbound Sawgrass Expressway entrance and exit ramps at Atlantic Boulevard in Coral Springs will be closed from Friday, January 19 at 10 p.m. until Monday, January 22 at 6 a.m., according to the city.
The planned work is part of a $72.5 million project to improve the interchange at Sawgrass Expressway and Atlantic Boulevard and widen the expressway. Officials said that work is anticipated to continue through early 2024.
As part of the improvement project, crews will reconstruct the northbound and southbound Sawgrass Expressway entrance and exit ramps at Atlantic Boulevard, widen the roadway from six to 10 lanes from north of Commercial Boulevard to north of Atlantic Boulevard, and replace the Sawgrass Expressway bridges over Atlantic Boulevard to address flooding.
Atlantic Boulevard will also be widened during the project and include new bike lanes.
Lane closures during the project will generally take place during off-peak hours to minimize traffic congestion and delays for most drivers, officials said.
