A dispute over towels at the Studio 6 Extended Stay hotel escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in the arrest of a guest.
According to the police report, on January 15, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a battery call at the Studio 6 hotel at 5645 North University Drive.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, a hotel employee, who sustained visible injuries to her face, including scratches around her eye and nose areas.
The employee reported being physically assaulted by a guest from Room 176, later identified as Rebecca S. Case, 43, of Coral Springs.
Records show the victim told officers the confrontation began when she was about to clean a room and was approached by Case, who requested towels.
Despite having already called the management for the same request, Case confronted the employee again after she refused to hand over towels and entered the room to clean.
The victim alleged that the altercation quickly escalated when Case grabbed her cleaning cart and pushed it away. As the employee attempted to retrieve the cart, she stated that Case pushed her against the wall, prompting her to defend herself.
The report shows that Case battered the victim with punches, slaps, and scratches. The physical altercation continued until hotel management intervened.
Both parties subsequently called the CSPD.
Upon reviewing the hotel’s video surveillance, officers confirmed the victim’s claims. The video clearly showed that Case waited outside the room before confronting the employee and initiating the physical assault.
Case was located in her room by police and admitted to initiating the verbal altercation and grabbing the cart. She claimed self-defense, stating that the employee grabbed her throat, prompting her to push back.
Police found probable cause for Case’s arrest based on the evidence and witness statements. She was taken into custody and transferred to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail.
