A Coral Springs man has been charged with three felonies for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and vehicle and planting recording devices, according to court records.
Daniel Geiger, 38, of Northwest 78th Terrace, who shares a 5-year-old child with the victim, strategically hid recording devices in a couch, bed mattress, and box spring inside the Coral Springs home the woman shares with the child, Coral Springs Police alleged in the documents. The victim made the discovery after the child said “her father was listening to her on his laptop computer, and that he has cameras all over their home,” an arrest affidavit states.
Geiger, who was seen on video surveillance repeatedly entering the victim’s home in August and September, apparently installed a new deadbolt lock on the door without the victim’s knowledge, the records allege.
Nine recording devices were found in the home, including at least two Geiger placed in a hole he had cut in a bed mattress, according to the affidavit. Another device was allegedly found in the interior roof lining of the victim’s Hyundai Elantra.
Court records indicate the devices were audio-recording surveillance equipment. The records state that the victim listened to some of the files on her computer and heard her and her daughter’s voices.
Police later got a warrant for Geiger’s home and found a device allegedly used in the surveillance scheme, according to the affidavit. Police also detailed other evidence allegedly linking Geiger to the crimes.
Geiger is charged with two felony burglary charges and a felony charge of interception of oral communications.
Records show he was released from jail on a $60,000 bond.
