After Oleg Krutyansky moved to Boca Raton, he was dissatisfied with the food and service at the restaurants he visited.
He had grown up in the competitive New York restaurant industry and decided that Coral Springs needed a high-quality place for breakfast and lunch. So, he purchased Bagel Depot and renamed it Schmear Bagel Company at 10645 Wiles Road.
“We have the best bagels and spreads in Coral Springs, along with great service,” said Krutyansky.
According to Krutyansky, this is different from a sales pitch. “I grew up working in the restaurant industry in New York, and you must be good to stay in business there. I would go to a restaurant and receive zero hospitality here, and the food was, at best, average,” said Krutyansky.
Krutyansky compared the restaurants here to his favorite restaurants in New York and New Jersey and believed he could do better.
After he purchased Bagel Depot about a month ago, he went to work making it the best bagel and deli-style restaurant possible. “I don’t cut corners to save money. I will spend more on the highest-quality ingredients. We hand roll and cut all our bagels,” said Krutyanksy.
According to Krutyansky, being friendly is an essential element of success. He likes people, and his goal is to make customers happy even if they are difficult or in a bad mood. He is renovating the restaurant’s interior, but the mural of the New York Yankees will remain. He has brought in restaurant professionals who love serving food.
Schmear offers a variety of bagels and spreads, with the Everything Bagel being the most popular. It also offers sandwiches, salads, and wraps.
“Our goal is to open up as many Schmear Bagel Company restaurants as possible, and this is our starting footprint,” he said.
Schmear is open from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
